Freeway and RVs!

The little man is talking more and more. We recently drove down to Tucson to visit some of Karen's friends. Everytime we passed a RV on the road (which is very frequent!) Tyler called out "RV!". Also at intervals during the drive, he made sure to point out that there are two freeways! There is the freeway we were driving on and the freeway going to other direction!

He also noticed a billboard with a man was covering his face for some advertisement, and said "Cry! Man. Cry!" That took me a while to figure out, but as we passed the billboard I got the message.

Needless to say, our trip down and back was full of conversation. RV!, Truck!, Car!, Van!, Motorcycle! and Freeway!

Talk to me!

Our little guy has been making a ton of noises and sounds like he can talk! I really wish I could understand you!

When I call home during the day to talk to Karen, you can hear him in the background adding to our conversation. Sometimes, (when I make a funny comment), Karen will laugh and then I will hear him in the background laughing too! Hopefully, he will think I am the funniest dad ever!

Booger on my sleeve

While holding the little guy this morning to comfort him, he placed his face on my arm. I looked down at my shirt to see a giant booger on my sleeve! Who needs a clean shirt for work?

He is so full of energy. This morning while I was eating my breakfast he was playing with a ball that we purchased last Sunday that is half his size. It is pretty fun to watch him bounce the ball and chase after it. Then when he captures the ball, he likes to look up at you and smile.

Da da Da da

Riding in the car last weekend afternoon, Tyler repeatedly called out "Da da Da da" twenty plus times. He was laughing and laughing. It definitely made me feel good!

He is starting to talk so much, making lots and lots of different sounds. I really wish I could understand what he is saying! My guess is that he trying to tell us how much fun he is having! Hey everyone - listen to me: I am happy! Let's have fun!

Peek-a-boo!

Impressive. While riding the "El" train to the airport, Tyler managed to wave at every passenger and add smiles to everyone. I was standing next to the door with the luggage, and periodically looked over to see Karen sitting with Tyler in his Ergo baby carrier(facing towards her).

Their seats faced inwards on the train car, while the seats to her left faced forward. When I looked over at Tyler, I noticed that Tyler had three rows of passengers playing peek-a-boo! with him. I was very impressed.

Tyler is quite the fun little guy! We had a brief visit to Chicago for my brother's graduation from University of Chicago. Sorry we didn't get to see all our friends in Chicago. Next time!

New job, new free time?

I haven't blogged in over 8 months. To update:
(1) Got a new job in town in mid-January
(2) At my new job, we finished our annual report last Wed (2/24)
(3) I now get to go home at a reasonable hour - say 5:30pm? (at least until the next quarter reporting deadline) [My normal work hours usually go past 8pm]
(4) What am I going to do with these new hours? [Watch Olympics and Baskeyball I guess...]

A couple weeks ago, as I was preparing Tyler for his bath, as I was taking off his diaper, I noticed that there was some poop in it! As the bath was not quite ready, I had to hold on to him for an extra minute. In that short time frame, Tyler stepped in his diaper. Yes, there was poop on the bottom of his foot.

I quickly moved him over to stand on top of the tile floor to avoid another step in the diaper. It was too late. Tyler was in a happy mood as I was holding him up and started to bounce and jump around! Needless to say, there was his first footprint artwork on our floor. (I did clean up shortly! :)

Hey, I'm over here!

The baby books claim that babies can observe things 8 to 12 inches away. In theory when I am holding the little guy in my arms, my face would be in that range. So far, I am not so sure the book is that accurate because he does not seem to make solid eye contact with me. Perhaps, it might be due to the fact that my bonding time with him mainly involves me watching him poop, wiping his butt, changing his clothes (since he pooped on them) and more wiping to clean the poop.

When his head is centered facing me, he moves his eyes out to the furthest corners. He has this "shifty eye" look. I guess I wouldn't want to look at that person who was always wiping my butt so much directly in the eyes either. I will have to post a picture of his shifty eyes action.

I do wonder what he is looking at and is he plotting something? The answer is he is looking for the milk and he is plotting something nasty in his diaper for me!
